Everything Happens
A controversial statement: not everything happens for a reason.
Everything happens.
Sometimes, bad things happen to good people. There is no “why” that makes sense.
If you linger too long on the “why,” it can keep you trapped.
If you fly past the “why” too quickly and ignore it - it will come back to haunt you.
Healing is like having an old phone that is burning through its battery - you keep it charged nonstop, but it’s not holding a charge. You get a new phone. Soon, you realize apps and software are running in the background and draining the battery. You think that is the problem. You go through a factory reset. Once you do that - you lose it all and have to rebuild.
Healing Complex PTSD is like a rewiring of every thought in your brain. Every feeling has to be reprocessed in a series of challenges. As you reprocess memories, you understand your emotions. Once you understand your emotions, you create healthy thought patterns. It takes time. You’re rebuilding your whole life from scratch. Over time, what worked for you when you were in survival mode loses its impact.
You level up again. It’s a constant ebb and flow of asking, “Am I living in my truest form? Am I doing what makes me happy?”
For me, everything happens; there’s not always a reason. Some things go into a box of what I will never understand. The aftermath reveals a new purpose, a different version of happiness, and a beautiful life to be lived.
