You’re Not There

You’re not there.
You’re here.

What do you hear?
Cheesy music. Deafening silence. Persistent ringing in my ears. Wheezy breath. Pounding heart.

But remember - you’re not there.
You’re here.

You’re having a flashback to the past.
Focus on what you see.

What do you see?

Find the rainbow in the room (something red, orange, yellow, and so forth).
But I can’t find red - that’s ok - pick a color you see and start.

I see black stairs on the stairmaster I’m on.
I see a red water bottle on a treadmill from a fellow gym goer.
I see a navy tshirt.
I see a teal jacket.
I see a baby blue sweatshirt.
I see a track that is royal blue.
I see a red button on the machine.
I see silver on the handrails.
I see neon yellow shoes.
I see white from my baseball cap.
I see gray speckled carpet.
I see someone cycling in red shorts.
I see a worker wearing olive pants.

Soon - breath by breath and step by step - I’m in the present moment.

I’m not there.
I’m here.
